Meet the Principal
I am excited to introduce myself, Amy Powell, as the Principal of Rolling Green Elementary School.
I am entering my 14th school year working in Rockford Public Schools. I have served as a veteran teacher, instructional coach, and school administrator. My experiences being deeply involved in curriculum and instruction allows me to serve as a strong and knowledgeable leader.
My educational experiences have provided me with a comprehensive understanding of student, family, and community needs. I completed my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education at Rockford University. I entered into the teacher leadership partnership with Rockford Public Schools and Rockford University and obtained my Master's Degree in Urban Education. I went on to earn an additional Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through the American College of Education.
I am an advocate of restorative practices and using staff, student, and family voice to guide decisions. I strive to be a great communicator and will work with you to develop a strong partnership between home and school. You will often hear me taking a whole-child approach, which focuses on student character and using social-emotional learning to create the best outcomes for all levels and stages of development. It is my goal that students at Rolling Green become well-rounded students in both social development and academic success.
I will work with staff to provide exceptional learning experiences for students to thrive as 21st century citizens. I value developing inclusive learning environments where students actively collaborate with one another to solve real-world challenges. I am committed to holding high expectations for all. With that being said, I will provide ample support and guidance that allows students and staff to be successful with teaching and learning. My primary focus will be working with you to make Rolling Green Elementary School an exceptional school within our community.
